The ear pads got a little dirty from, well, dirty ears 🙂
The headband sliders are still tight and don’t slip.
The sound is still great, even on iOS.
Overall, a great purchase.

Comfortable fit, soft, and the sound on the phone is good.

These feel cheap compared to the Marshall Major 5, which actually squeeze my ears — and even those are more comfortable.

These headphones win you over with their looks, incredible comfort, and a premium feel, but in my opinion, the sound is their weak point. Maybe it’s just that I’m not a fan of Sony’s sound in general. I didn’t really like the XM4 either, even though they sound better than the XM5 — warmer and a bit brighter. Great device for everyday use, but definitely listen to the sound before buying. Don’t buy blindfolded!

Good product. Worth the money. I bought it to listen to music in the office, hear colleagues on calls, and block out others nearby. It handles all these tasks perfectly.

I don’t recommend buying this model. The previous XM4 was significantly better in both sound and comfort — better to go with those.

Sound-wise, I liked these the most among competitors I compared (Bose QC, Sennheiser M4, B&W PX7 S2, and the previous Sony XM4). Although it’s very subjective, so if you’re choosing based on sound, definitely listen for yourself. Compared to the previous XM4 model, the bass is a bit less, but the overall sound, including bass, is noticeably cleaner.
Weight-wise, these are the lightest of all, which was very important for me since I can wear headphones all day. Plus, I used to have wired Sony MDR-1AM2, which felt almost weightless on my head.
Battery life lasts about 2-3 days with constant use. It didn’t bother me at all, although before this I only used wired headphones. Charging is fast.
As for the touch panel — many people dislike touch controls and prefer buttons, but I actually liked it a lot. It’s very convenient: the gestures are intuitive, and tapping the right earcup is way easier than fumbling for buttons.

Great noise cancellation. The sound is probably excellent too. I don’t really have much to compare it to, but no complaints about the sound quality so far.

The headband puts pressure on my head. The sound is good, but not the best. Sony’s app is frustrating — you can’t remap double or triple tap actions for the noise cancelling.

Overall, probably the best headphones you can get, although previous versions seem just as good.

Amazing sound, very user-friendly (instantly switches between two devices), excellent noise cancellation, and tons of customization options.

The bass just wasn’t enough (((
The plastic seems decent, but doesn’t feel like it matches the price.

They fixed the issues I had with the WH-1000XM4, which started falling apart after 2.5 years of use. I’m especially happy about the larger ear cushions — now my ears feel completely comfortable, and I can wear them for hours without taking them off. 🎧 The WH-1000XM5 feel much more durable than the XM4, so I really hope they’ll last me at least 4–5 years. 😁

Great headphones with the best noise cancellation out there. The sound quality is top-notch.

The best headphones — I already miss them.

Lightweight! Good sound, decent noise cancellation, and the transparency mode is very convenient. The microphones work pretty well too.
But… the connection between the earcup and the headband is really weak. It only took falling asleep in them once for the plastic to crack and one side to break off. 🙁

The noise cancellation and sound quality are absolutely top-notch. The battery easily lasts 3–4 days (so far). I previously used the full-size Sony MDR-XB550APs, and after 6–7 years of service, I’ve finally retired them with honor.
I use these headphones both for music and gaming, and for me, they’re super convenient. For music, I used to rely on the Buds Live (and still will — I don’t want to use these in -10° to -50° weather). Compared to the Buds, the sound here feels “cleaner” somehow, and I can hear more layers and detail — or maybe I’m just paying more attention now.
As for gaming, thanks to the noise cancelling and great sound quality, I can hear the environment much better, and the spatial audio really helps me enjoy the game more.

Very comfortable to wear, excellent noise cancellation, super intuitive touch controls, a great carrying case, and tons of useful settings.

Strongly not recommended if you’re looking for comfort and don’t want to dent your skull.
At first, they feel fine, but over time, the constant discomfort sets in, and you just don’t want to wear them anymore — you feel like throwing them across the room.
They probably press down because the frame is too narrow. I compared the sound to basic earbuds — the difference is minimal.
If you’re only listening via cable, the sound is absolutely terrible. You have to turn them on for decent audio, which means charging them every 3–4 days.

Overall, the headphones are solid.
The case is big, but if you carry it in a bag, it’s not a problem.

Good headphones, except for the fact that the sound is quiet.

Top-tier headphones, probably the best I’ve ever used.
The sound quality is excellent, and there are various equalizer settings available. The mobile app is very convenient, with usage stats and lots of useful settings. They connect instantly and have a very long battery life — with all-day use, the charge lasts for two full days. Plus, they recharge super fast — 100% in just 10–15 minutes.

These are my first headphones with noise cancellation, but my friend has the XM4 — and the difference in noise canceling and transparency mode is noticeable. If you’re looking for good sound and strong ANC, and you don’t care much about premium materials, the XM5 is a solid choice. However, the XM4 has slightly better sound and build quality.
That said, I’m giving a low rating because just two days in, the wear detection sensor (that pauses music when you take the headphones off) stopped working completely.

Excellent noise cancellation. I use them for working on my PC — listening to music, watching videos, and joining video calls. They handle all tasks perfectly. I work with them connected to a MacBook, and they switch easily between devices like my phone and laptop. The touch controls are convenient.”

Excellent noise cancellation (much better than the Sony WH-XB900N, which have ANC but are not flagship-level).
Very lightweight — you can barely feel them on your head, and they don’t put pressure on your ears.
You can wear them for hours without discomfort (unlike the WH-XB900N, which do feel bulky).
After adjusting the sound settings — almost perfect.

XM5 hit different. Way clearer mids than XM4 — finally no overkill bass.
Fit like a glove, super comfy.
And the ANC? Bro, even in old-ass subway cars I’m chillin’. No need to blast the volume👌

Cool headphones, I switched from the third version. The bass is a bit softer, but the sound is cleaner and cooler, like premium. The music sounds clearer and nicer than before.
