Description

A wide aperture lens for high quality portraits and low light photos

With the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens you can easily produce more artistic and impactful photography thanks to a wide f/1.8 aperture that produces sharp focus on your subject and a beautiful blurred background.

Portrait

Perfect for capturing expressions on the faces of friends and family, ideal for weddings, events, and parties

Low-light

Perfect when you find yourself in darker conditions capturing nightscapes, firework displays or interiors

Everyday

Capture life as it happens in front of you from the streets of your town to capturing the emotions of events

Artistic and impactful photography

The wide f/1.8 aperture of the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM gives you the ability to bring your subject into sharp focus and blur the background. Photographers refer to this as a ‘narrow depth of field’ and makes your subject stand out, which is great for portraits, as people become the clear focus of your shot.

12 reviews for Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Black Lens

  1. Lee

The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the autofocus can be a bit slow in low light, but overall, it’s a fantastic lens for creating artistic and impactful photos.

  2. Adriano Meade

For the price, it’s an absolute must-have for any photographer looking to enhance their creative photography. Highly recommended!

  3. Silvester Hillar

You can definitely find better for this price.

  4. Ketil

    Good lens.

  5. Sarah

An excellent budget-friendly lens with great light sensitivity.

  6. Katashi

The STM is quiet enough and fairly fast. It produces decent bokeh. It’s well-built with quality materials, doesn’t feel like a cheap knockoff. The weight, size, and overall look are quite nice.

  7. Adrian

I hesitated for a long time about whether to buy it. Finally decided to try it out, but honestly, it wasn’t worth it. The photos aren’t as sharp or impressive as I expected. I wouldn’t recommend it.

  8. Giona Ulysse

Good bokeh, versatile for all occasions, and decent autofocus.

  9. Adam

Excellent lens! The best you can get for this price.

  10. Todd Turner

A good 50mm lens, handles its job perfectly.

  11. Jip

I’ve been using it for less than a month. I’m just a hobbyist, but I really like the photos taken with this lens.

  12. Zoran

The classic “nifty fifty,” everything has already been said about it, but I’ll add my thoughts:

Great lens, I didn’t expect such a pleasant result. It’s my first 50mm; before this, I used a telephoto, a kit 18-55 STM, and various Helios lenses, so I’m not a seasoned user, but I love it. Excellent sharpness, even at f/1.8 with decent depth of field, and fast autofocus.
